Folkmanis Reversible
Caterpillar/Butterfly Puppets with "From Caterpillar to
Butterfly" Children's Book
"It seems to have
disappeared, but it hasn't. It has turned into a butterfly! From
the time a caterpillar first hatches, it eats so fast that its
skin can't keep up. It sheds its skin several times as it grows
bigger and bigger. Eventually it forms a shell around itself
called a chrysalis. Nothing seems to happen for a long time.
But then one day the chrysalis splits open, and a beautiful butterfly
emerges. What a magincal metamorphosis!"
Deborah Heiligman wrote this
Stage 1 "Let's Read and Find out Science" book
about caterpillars and butterflies. She explains how they start
as a pin-head size egg on a leaf and grow into a caterpillar
that has to eat and eat. Several examples of different butterflies
are given including where they are found. Illustrated by Bari
Weissman.
"Stage
1 books explain simple and easily
observable science concepts for preschool- and kindergarten-age
children. Stage 2 books explore more challenging concepts for
children in the primary grades and include hands-on activities
that children can do themselves."
